A woman was left seething after she was hit with a $283 fine for parking in her own driveway.

On Thursday, Jäclyn Clairé took to social media to complain about a technical parking violation that she received after parking her vehicle on “Crown land.”

Taking to a community query section, she questioned: “Has there been a recent change in parking on Warners Ave?”

“I park in my driveway, leaving ample room for a double pram, as my car doesn’t fit in the garage. I’ve never had a problem until this ticket today,” she continued as per 7News.

Clairé then attached a screenshot of the parking ticket, as well as an image of the location where her car was parked to prove that it was where she had mentioned.

The post ended up garnering a lot of attention online, with many urging the Bondi local to take action against the council that issued the fine.

“I would definitely fight this,” one man said while another also urged her to do something about it.

Others stated that they’ve also been doing a similar thing without being penalized for it.

“We do the same, and a ranger told us that this is absolutely fine,” one person commented.

“Up in my street there are dozens of cars doing this [which] never get fined unless someone complains to council,” another added.

However, as per the outlet, some were not as forgiving, siding with the council’s decision.

“Rules are rules,” one person quipped.

And this user agreed, writing: “Car drivers need to take more responsibility with their vehicle and home living choices. If this means moving elsewhere with better parking, then so be it.”

Speaking to 7News, a Waverley Council spokesperson emphasized that “this has always been a fineable offence under the Australian road rules.”

They continued, saying that they let it slide sometimes when sufficient room on the footpath is being ensured: “[The] council has previously accepted this practice as long as vehicles are not encroaching/obstructing the footpath and acted on complaints.”

However, action was taken after an influx of complaints were being sent in.

“Due to recent ongoing high volume of complaints from residents and NSW Fire and Rescue, action is being taken,” the spokesperson said.

According to the official set of rules laid out by the NSW area, “You must not stop or park your vehicle across a driveway unless you’re picking up or dropping off passengers,” so technically – very technically – Clairé can be considered to be breaking the law.
