The designer died at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, California on September 20 per a press statement from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Departments.
According to PEOPLE, Xol, a singer, actor, and former cast member on Extreme Makeover, was found critically injured with multiple stab wounds in a Palm Springs, Calif., apartment on the morning of September 10. According to the Palm Springs Police Department, he was rushed to the hospital but tragically passed away on September 20, as confirmed by the Riverside County Coroner.
Richard Joseph Gonzales, an alleged associate of Xol, was arrested in connection with the stabbing. Later that same morning, Gonzales had called the police, claiming he had been assaulted the night before. After investigating, police determined that Gonzales was at the scene of the stabbing and identified him as the likely suspect. Initially charged with attempted murder, Gonzales now faces upgraded murder charges following Xol’s death, with the case being sent to the district attorney’s office.
The exact nature of the relationship between Xol and Gonzales remains unclear as the investigation continues.
Eduardo Xol was a multi-talented American television personality, musician, author, and designer. Born on February 19, 1966, in Los Angeles, California, Xol is of Mexican descent and began his career in the entertainment industry at a young age, focusing on acting and music. Xol studied theater at UCLA. He first gained recognition as a musician, playing piano and percussion.
Per The Hollywood Reporter his family made a statement “We are heartbroken at the tragic loss of our beloved Eduardo Xol.We know that his kindness has touched the lives of so many. We ask for that kindness returned now allowing our privacy to be respected as we process our grief. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made in Eduardo’s name to the Lupus Foundation of America as he spent so much of his life in the service of others.”
