In 2023, Bud Light’s partnership with transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney sparked intense controversy, particularly among conservative customers. This triggered boycotts and protests leading to the sale of Budweiser to drop significantly.

The fire was further fueled when the former VP of Marketing, Alissa Heinerscheid, elaborated the company’s decision, stating they tended to change its image from a “fratty” beer to a more inclusive brand.

Despite efforts by CEO Brendan Whitworth to restore the brand’s image, the controversy significantly damaged its reputation.

Recently, Starbucks also came under fire for releasing an ad that some critics have labeled as “woke,” similar to the backlash faced by Bud Light.

In the commercial in question, a father eventually comes to terms with his transgender daughter’s transition, showcasing a moment of acceptance as they share a Starbucks drink with her chosen name.

The ad, which was shared by Starbucks India, emphasized the message, “Your name is a reflection of your true self,” encouraging individuality and self-expression with the hashtag #ItStartsWithYourName. This move sparked mixed reactions: some praised the brand’s commitment to inclusivity, while others accused the company of pushing a divisive agenda. The debate reflects a broader cultural divide over corporate stances on social issues.
