Ellen DeGeneres sparks concern from fans after abruptly canceling 4 stand-up shows

Ellen DeGeneres has recently sparked concern after abruptly canceling some of her upcoming stand-up shows.

Shortly after kicking off her Ellen’s Last Stand… Up tour in June, the 66-year-old has canceled four of her upcoming shows in different locations.

The canceled dates are July 10 in Dallas, July 21 in San Francisco, July 23 in Seattle, and August 11 in Chicago, according to Ticketmaster.

When you go onto the website to buy tickets, a message pops up on the screen stating: “Unfortunately, the Event Organizer has had to cancel your event,” the site says. “You don’t need to do a thing. We’ll issue a refund to the original method of payment used at the time of purchase, as soon as funds are received from the Event Organizer. It should appear on your account within 14-21 days.”

The platform also noted that if the ticket was purchased by someone other than the ticket holder, “the refund will go to the fan who originally purchased the tickets from Ticketmaster.”

Fans were clearly disappointed, with many wondering if the former talk show host was doing okay.

“Heartbroken!” wrote one user under the news of the announcement, while another added: “Aww, that’s too bad! I hope everything is okay. Maybe she just needs to take a little break or deal with some unexpected scheduling conflict. I’m sure she’ll reschedule and make it up to her fans soon.”

No other details were provided for the cancelation thus far.

This marks Degeneres’ last tour before she hangs her boots up for good.

It comes just a few years after the star was famously “canceled” after a BuzzFeed report which saw former employees call the star out. This then forced her to take a permanent step back from her eponymous talk show following 19 successful seasons.

In an interview with TODAY after the difficult period for her professionally, the 66-year-old addressed what she made of the entire fiasco.

“I really didn’t understand it; I still don’t understand it,” DeGeneres said in May 2021, just less than a year after the report was published. “It was too orchestrated; it was too coordinated.”

But it seems as though the star can make light of the situation now.

During an L.A. standup set in April, DeGeneres joked about getting “kicked out of show business” for being “mean.”

However, she also added: “The hate went on for a long time and I would try to avoid looking at the news. The ‘be kind’ girl wasn’t kind. That was the headline.”

“I’m making jokes about what happened to me, but it was devastating,” DeGeneres told the audience during a Q&A after the show was done.

“It took a long time for me to want to do anything again,” she concluded.
