A documentary make went inside a Chinese vape factory and some of the things he saw were surprising

As demand for vapes continues to rise, a CDC study found that e-cigarette monthly unit sales increased by 46.6 percent from January 2020 to December 2022.
But have you ever wondered how they’re manufactured and tested? It’s probably not what you’re expecting.

When the YouTube channel Machina visited one of the top disposable vape factories in Baoan, Shenzhen, China, they were in for a surprise.
They uncovered how these factories are able to mass-produce vape products, from the internal components to the testing process.
But it was the final part of the process that stood out as the most unusual.
In the video, you can see the different testing stages the disposable vapes undergo.
First, there’s a pressure test that pushes air from the bottom of the vape, ensuring vapor is released from the mouthpiece.
Next, a suction tube pulls vapor from the vape, mimicking the way a person would take a puff.
But the third test? That’s where things get a bit strange.

The clip shows a worker holding numerous vapes in one hand as he takes a hit from each vape, with his own mouth to test if they are working properly.
Even the documentary maker wasn’t sure if it was to test the mechanism or the quality of the flavor.
When they asked the man about the number of vapes he tests daily, he revealed it’s around 8,000 to 10,000, and he even smokes outside of work.
The clip quickly caught the attention of vape enthusiasts, who took to Reddit to discuss the surprising fact that someone has to smoke so many vapes as part of their job.
One commenter asked, “Do you also smoke after work?”
The man replied, “Yeah, otherwise I get too much blood in my nicotine system.”
Another person noted, “That dude literally smokes 24/7.”
Testing 10,000 vape puffs a day is an immense amount of smoking. According to an electronic vape company, each vape with 10ml of nicotine juice offers about 3,000 puffs.
So, this man is consuming the equivalent of over three full vapes per day just at work. That’s quite a lot.
