Lisa Marie Presley’s posthumous biography reveals big detail about son’s death

It is never easy saying goodbye, especially to your child. Similarly, Lisa Marie Presley had a hard time bidding her only son farewell. Her son departed from the world quite early.

According to her memoir, a new detail has come to light about what she chose to do after her son’s funeral. A lot of people, were previously unaware of what the family, or mainly Lisa Marie did following her son’s funeral.

Keep reading to learn more about the path Lisa Marie chose for her beloved Benjamin.

The funeral is usually the final farewell for a loved one.
Unfortunately, Lisa Marie Presley had difficulty finding that strength a few years ago when her son, Benjamin Keough, passed away. Therefore, she came up with a very alternative solution, which her memoir reveals, according to Page Six.

People may disagree on many things in this world, but most can agree on one thing… parents should not have to bury their children.

The natural order is simple. We grow up and grow old with our parents around us, but we also know all too well that there will come a terrible moment when we have to say goodbye to them.

On the contrary, no parent dares to think about losing their child.
Even though these are the days with the worst pain imaginable, you still manage to find the inner strength to get through it.

Lisa Marie Presley herself faced this unbearable situation just a few years ago.
She had already experienced sorrow at the age of just nine when she had to say goodbye to her beloved father, Elvis Presley, who passed away at the age of 42.

Afterward followed a life of pressure, broken marriages, and an addiction to painkillers.

However, the worst grief struck her in 2020. Benjamin Keough was her only son and just 27 years old when he died from a gunshot wound, which was later confirmed to be self-inflicted.
Lisa Marie herself passed away just a few years later in 2023, at the age of 54.

After Lisa Marie’s death, her eldest daughter Riley Keough revealed that her mother had recorded several tapes in the hope of releasing a memoir.
Riley later chose to transcribe the recordings, which have become the book ‘From Here To The Great Unknown’.

The book will be released later in October, but revelations have already started to emerge.

Among other things, Lisa Marie talks about a terrible period after Benjamin’s death.
She found it so hard to say goodbye to Benjamin that she chose to keep him in her home for two months. She also wasn’t sure whether to bury him at Graceland or in Hawaii.

So she chose another route. “There is no law in the state of California to bury someone immediately. I found a very empathetic funeral home owner,” Presley has explained in her book. “I told her that having my dad in the house after he died was incredibly helpful because I could go and spend time with him and talk to him. She said, ‘Well bring Ben Ben to you. You can have him there.’”

Lisa Marie shares that she made sure the room temperature was always kept at 55 degrees to preserve the body and that she became so accustomed to seeing and caring for him.

Her daughter Riley has also commented on this period, sharing an absurd moment.

Lisa Marie and Riley had talked about honoring Benjamin, with Lisa copying a tattoo of his. She wanted the placement of the tattoo to be exactly the same as well. When the tattoo artist asked if he could see a picture of Benjamin’s tattoos, Lisa Marie told him she could show him instead.

“I think that the story could, on paper, I can see how this sounds completely insane and absurd. But I — my mom was just very much herself,” Keough shared. “She wasn’t a crazy lady.”

Keough said that her mother invited a tattoo artist to view Benjamin’s body in order to get the placement right. “[The tattoo artist], God bless him, was very normal about the whole thing,” Keough said. “It definitely one of the most, like, absurd moments.”

Eventually, Lisa Marie decided to have Benjamin buried at Graceland alongside Elvis Presley.
A few years later, she was buried next to Benjamin.

Lisa Marie endured an absolutely terrible grief as a mother, and afterward, she only kept going because of her other children. We send the family our absolute best as they navigate this grief-filled time in their lives.
