Elon Musk has raised questions about how certain government officials have accumulated significant wealth despite earning modest public salaries. Speaking at an event, Musk revealed that his team at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is investigating possible financial irregularities involving public funds.
Responding to a question from an audience member, Musk described what he believes is a complex flow of money through government-funded organizations and international channels, which may eventually benefit individuals in the United States.
“There is a massive amount of corruption, but it is circuitous,” Musk said. He explained that taxpayer money is often routed through government agencies to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), some of which operate overseas. According to Musk, these transactions can create a loophole where funds are no longer subject to strict oversight, raising concerns about transparency and accountability.
Musk emphasized that while the money does not directly land in individuals’ accounts, patterns of wealth among certain public figures have prompted his team to investigate further. “There’s a lot of strangely wealthy members of government where I’m trying to connect the dots,” he said.
