Addresses Run Rumors

Former First Lady Michelle Obama has once again addressed long-standing public speculation about whether she might consider running for president — and her answer remains a firm no.

Speaking on the podcast Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce, Obama emphasized that her main focus continues to be the well-being of her two daughters, Sasha and Malia. The 61-year-old explained that her family’s experience in the White House had a lasting impact on her children, and she is not willing to revisit that chapter of public life.

“I was so glad when we got out of the White House,” Obama said. “I wanted them to have the freedom of not having the eyes of the world on them.”

While Sasha and Malia are now young adults, Obama said they are still adjusting to life in the public eye and working to build their own identities. “They’re still dealing with paparazzi and being who they are,” she shared.

When asked directly about the possibility of entering politics herself, she responded, “The answer is no.” She explained that being a parent during such a high-profile period of public service came with sacrifices that many people don’t fully understand.

“Not only am I not interested in politics in that way,” she said, “but the thought of putting my girls back into that spotlight — we’ve done enough.”

She concluded the discussion by saying the question “has been asked and answered,” and that there is no scenario in which she would run for office.
