As ICE Arrests Violent

DHS Releases Details on Criminal Suspects Detained in Recent Los Angeles ICE Operation

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has released information on several individuals apprehended during immigration enforcement actions in Los Angeles that began on June 6. The operation, led by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), resulted in the arrest of hundreds of undocumented individuals, many of whom were reportedly wanted for serious criminal offenses.

According to DHS, the individuals taken into custody had histories involving charges such as robbery, assault, and other violent crimes. The agency shared further details about 19 specific cases from June 7, emphasizing that many of those arrested had prior convictions.

Among the suspects was a 55-year-old Mexican national with a history of firearms and assault-related charges, and a 49-year-old Vietnamese national previously convicted of second-degree murder. Others taken into custody had prior records involving domestic violence, child endangerment, sexual offenses, and drug-related crimes.

In its statement, DHS commended ICE officers for their work in removing individuals considered high-risk from the community. The department emphasized that the focus of the operation was on public safety and upholding existing immigration laws.

Over the same weekend, protests and unrest occurred in parts of Downtown Los Angeles in response to the enforcement actions. Officials stated that the disturbances complicated law enforcement efforts and raised safety concerns for residents and first responders.

Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco addressed the situation, expressing concern over the impact of the unrest and calling for a focus on law and order. “A stable society depends on accountability and adherence to the law,” he stated.

Among those apprehended in the ICE operation were:

  • A Peruvian national previously convicted of robbery and sentenced to 10 years in prison.

  • A Colombian national with past arrests for assault, domestic battery, and narcotics charges.

  • A Filipino national with a criminal record including burglary and serious assault charges.

  • Several individuals from Mexico previously convicted of offenses such as sexual battery, hit-and-run, and assault with deadly weapons.

Officials noted that many of those arrested face deportation proceedings based on both immigration violations and prior convictions.

The DHS stated that additional updates may follow as the legal process continues and reviews are conducted regarding each individual case.
