Grandma and Grandpa were enjoying time with their family while staying overnight at their son’s house. Grandpa discovered a bottle of V pills in the medicine cabinet while they were there. He asked his son if he could try one of the pills because he was curious about them. After hesitating, his son said,
“Dad, I don’t think you should take one. They are highly costly and powerful.”
Grandpa was intrigued and asked, “How much do they cost?”
The son clarified, “They’re $10.00 each.”
But Grandpa was not deterred by the cost. He said, “I don’t mind. I still want to try one out. I’ll put the cash under my pillow before we leave in the morning, just so you know.”
The son went to check the room the following morning after Grandma and Grandpa had left. He was shocked to discover $110 hidden beneath the pillow.
He shouted to Grandpa, bewildered, “I told you each pill was $10, not $110!”
“I know,” Grandpa replied with a wink, “but I wanted to make sure I had enough for the experience.”
The whole family burst into laughter when they heard the story. It became one of those tales that would be retold at every family gathering, a reminder that even in old age, Grandpa still had a spark of humor and mischief in him. That night, as everyone sat together around the dinner table, the son raised his glass and said,
“To Dad—the man who taught us that no matter how old you are, life is always worth living with a little curiosity, a little adventure, and a lot of laughter.”
Grandpa grinned, Grandma shook her head with a smile, and the room filled with joy. The visit, though brief, became unforgettable—proof that the best memories are the ones made from love, humor, and family.
