In a fiery appearance on Hannity on Monday, November 11, Tom Homan, President-elect Donald Trump’s recently appointed “border czar,” did not hold back as he took aim at controversial claims made by the co-hosts of The View. The ABC talk show had suggested that the Trump administration’s immigration policies could lead to the deportation of American citizens—a notion Homan quickly dismissed as baseless.
Homan’s comments came after The View co-host Ana Navarro asserted that Trump’s immigration plan might involve deporting U.S. citizens in families with undocumented members. Navarro stated, “You realize when he says, ‘Yes, families can be deported together,’ what he is saying is that U.S. Citizens can be deported. If the parent is undocumented and they have U.S. Citizen children or spouses, and you don’t want to separate them, then let’s deport the U.S. citizens.”
When Fox News host Sean Hannity asked Homan about the claims, Homan shot down the idea with a sharp retort. “No, exactly not,” he said. “Look, The Viewis such an island of misfit toys. They don’t know what the hell they’re talking about.”
A Focus on Public Safety and National Security
Homan clarified that the Trump administration’s immigration policy would prioritize threats to public safety and national security. He emphasized the administration’s goal of addressing the significant issue of criminal illegal immigrants. “President Trump has made it clear we will prioritize public safety threats and national security threats first. And that’s what the focus should be.”
He elaborated on the scope of the issue, stating, “There’s over 1.5 million convicted criminal aliens in this country with final orders of removal that we’re going to be looking for. There are thousands of illegal alien gang members we’ll be targeting as well.”
While the administration’s immediate focus would be on criminal elements, Homan warned that no one in the country illegally should feel at ease. “If you’re in the country illegally, you shouldn’t feel comfortable. Absolutely not. When you enter this country illegally, you’ve committed a crime. You are a criminal, and you’re not off the table.”
Addressing Sanctuary States and Cities
Homan also took aim at sanctuary states and cities that have vowed to block deportation efforts. “I saw today numerous governors from sanctuary states saying they’re going to step in the way. They better get the hell out of the way. Either you help us, or get the hell out of the way, because ICE is going to do their job,” he declared.
He criticized policies that hamstring Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and promised to empower the agency. “We’re going to take the handcuffs off ICE that the Biden administration put on them and let ICE do what they do best.”
Homan Calls Out Biden Administration’s Record
Homan reserved some of his sharpest criticism for President Biden and his administration, accusing them of failing to address the criminal immigrant issue adequately. “They promised this administration would concentrate on criminal aliens. Secretary Mayorkas said that. But I looked at the stats today—the removal of criminal aliens is down 74% from President Trump. We have more criminals here than we ever had.”
He promised aggressive action moving forward. “We’ve got plenty of targets out there. And the men and women of this new administration are going to go look for them. Sanctuary cities don’t want to help? Get out of the way. I’ll double the workforce in that sanctuary city. Despite the politics, we’re doing our job. So get used to it, because we’re coming.”
A Message for “The View”
Returning to address The View, Homan reiterated his stance. “Let me say this back to The View. They need to get their facts straight. Spreading misinformation only adds to the confusion and politicization of what should be a serious conversation about public safety and border security.”
Homan’s bold statements sparked a heated debate across social media, with supporters applauding his no-nonsense approach and critics questioning the rhetoric. One thing is clear: the Trump administration’s stance on immigration remains a hot-button issue that continues to dominate headlines.
