The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is taking action against employees who leaked details of planned deportation operations, leading to compromised law enforcement efforts. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed that multiple individuals responsible for these leaks have been identified and will be dismissed. “We are still identifying more individuals involved,” Noem stated. “They will be terminated, and there will be consequences.”
Noem emphasized that leaking operational details puts law enforcement personnel at risk. She explained that DHS has conducted a thorough investigation, using various methods such as reviewing electronic communications and administering polygraph tests to uncover the sources of the leaks. “It’s concerning that individuals within the system would undermine efforts to maintain public safety,” Noem said. “We are committed to ensuring that law enforcement can do their jobs safely and effectively.” Last month, information about planned Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations was made public, forcing adjustments to scheduled raids. One such operation in Chicago had to be postponed following a media report. Another operation in Aurora, Colorado, aimed at apprehending members of the violent Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua (TDA), was compromised, resulting in only one arrest. In Los Angeles, an ICE raid targeting criminal organizations was also affected by leaks.
