The second nun took a deep breath and continued, “Well, of course, I was horrified! But I didn’t want to leave them there, so I did the only thing I could think of…”
The other two nuns leaned in, wide-eyed.
“I poked holes in all of them!” she whispered triumphantly.
For a moment, there was complete silence. The first nun’s jaw dropped, and the third nun suddenly turned pale.
After a long pause, the third nun clutched her chest and let out a strangled gasp.
“Oh no…” she muttered, looking like she had just seen a ghost.
The other two nuns looked at her in confusion.
“What’s wrong, Sister Mary?” the first nun asked.
Sister Mary swallowed hard, her face turning red. Then, in a small voice, she finally admitted:
“…I think we need to pray.”
“Why?” the other two asked in unison.
Sister Mary wiped her forehead and whispered, “Because I just found the holy water…and I used it to rinse my mouth!”
