Tower Evacuated After Person Attempts to Access the Roof

Trump Tower Evacuated After Security Incident on Rooftop

New York City’s Trump Tower experienced a security scare on Monday afternoon after an individual attempted to access the building’s rooftop, prompting a swift evacuation of parts of the structure.

According to reports from AP News, the New York City Police Department (NYPD) responded to the scene around 4:30 p.m. local time. Eyewitnesses reported that security personnel quickly evacuated visitors from the building’s atrium area as a precaution.

Police officers equipped with helmets and safety harnesses — standard equipment for high-angle rescue operations — were seen entering the building. Authorities later confirmed that a person was safely escorted out of Trump Tower by the NYPD’s emergency services unit without any injuries or further disruption.

Details about the individual involved, including their identity and any potential charges, have not yet been made public. It was confirmed, however, that the person had tried to access a restricted area of the building not open to the public.

The incident raised immediate concerns due to the building’s prominence and past security challenges.

Past Security Issues at Trump Tower

This latest event comes less than a year after another alarming incident inside Trump Tower, when a man fell approximately 50 feet from a balcony into the atrium’s food court area.

According to the New York Fire Department at the time, the man had been acting strangely and was asked to leave by security personnel shortly before the fall occurred. Witnesses described the moment as chaotic, with diners witnessing the fall from nearby tables.

Emergency responders arrived quickly, finding the man injured and unconscious. Despite the severity of the fall, he reportedly showed signs of consciousness when being transported to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. Officials described his injuries as serious but did not immediately release further updates about his condition.

Ongoing Security Measures

Trump Tower, a 58-story skyscraper located on Fifth Avenue, has long been a high-profile site requiring enhanced security measures, particularly since the political rise of its namesake, former President Donald Trump. The building houses luxury residences, offices, retail spaces, and a popular public atrium that draws tourists daily.

Following Monday’s incident, security experts noted that while attempts to breach restricted areas in major buildings are rare, they highlight the ongoing challenges of maintaining safety in public-access spaces.

Authorities have not indicated whether additional security protocols will be introduced following the rooftop attempt, but NYPD officials confirmed the situation was brought under control without injury to the public.

The investigation into the individual’s motives and any potential charges is ongoing.
