House Unanimously Passes

In a rare unanimous vote, the House of Representatives approved a measure on Wednesday to restore a key office dedicated to supporting the families of deceased military personnel. Note: A video of the rally is available at the end of the article.

The bill, titled the “Prioritizing Veterans’ Survivors Act,” passed with a 424-0 vote. It reestablishes the Office of Survivors Assistance (OSA) as the primary advisor on policies affecting military families and the survivors of fallen service members.

This action reverses a previous change made in 2021 that had shifted the office’s role away from its original focus. The legislation also updates federal code to clearly define the office’s responsibilities and its position within the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The measure will now move to the Senate for further consideration.
