Funny story: Fifth grader gets cheeky with teacher

Laughing is one of the simplest, most natural ways to feel good and stay healthy. It’s like a little workout for your soul that boosts your mood, eases stress, and even helps your body by releasing those feel-good endorphins. Which is why everyone likes a funny story.

Today we’re sharing one about a teacher and her conversation with her cheeky young student.

Picture this: It’s a regular Tuesday morning in Mrs. Thompson’s fifth-grade classroom, and the air is buzzing faintly with the whisper of pencils scratching against paper as students work on their math assignments.

Well, most students.

Johnny, ever the class clown, was doodling in his notebook instead of solving equations. Mrs. Thompson noticed his wandering attention and decided it was time to reel him back in.

She walked over quietly, looked at the elaborate drawing of a dinosaur in a superhero cape, and asked, “Johnny, what exactly are you doing?”

Without missing a beat, Johnny looked up, grinned, and said, “Math. Just… prehistoric math.”

Mrs. Thompson raised an eyebrow. “Really? And what does prehistoric math look like?”

Johnny flipped the page, showing a stick figure running from a T-Rex, and answered, “It’s all about avoiding the wrong answers… or you get eaten.”

Trying not to laugh, Mrs. Thompson said, “Well, if you don’t want your grades to go extinct, you might want to start on the actual assignment.”

Johnny nodded seriously. “Got it. Operation Avoid-F Is a go.”

And with that, he picked up his pencil and got to work—though Mrs. Thompson couldn’t help but notice the tiny T-Rex now peeking out from the corner of his worksheet.

Sometimes, even in math class, a little laughter goes a long way.
