McDonald’s Rolls Out McVeggie Sandwich

When you think McDonald’s, you probably think of a quick meal that includes many a Big Mac, Chicken McNuggets, maybe some fries, and a Coke, right? You probably don’t align McDonald’s with the healthiest options, and vegetables are at the bottom of the list. Well, the Golden Arches is changing that in some markets. According to a news release, participating McDonald’srestaurants in Canada now sell a McVeggie.

“The McVeggie features a breaded veggie patty made with a blend of vegetables—including carrots, green beans, zucchini, peas, soybeans, broccoli, and corn—seasoned to perfection and served with shredded lettuce and a creamy mayo-style sauce on a toasted sesame bun,” McDonald’s explains.

Those who like a little extra kick can also get their McVeggie in a spicy habanero variety.

Canadians Loved The McDonald’s McVeggie Regional Test

Francesca Cardarelli, Chief Marketing Officer at McDonald’s Canada, explained in the news release that a regional test of the McVeggie was a hit. Customers loved it, and McDonald’s felt encouraged to roll the sandwich out across Canada.

“Canadians asked for more options to meet modern lifestyles, and we listened,” Francesca said.”The McVeggie isn’t just a sandwich, it’s a celebration of bold flavour and our commitment to serving all guests and their evolving tastes. This launch reflects McDonald’s dedication to creating iconic moments with crave worthy menu items, for every Canadian.”

Canadian McDonald’s franchisees agree and look forward to serving the McVeggie.

“When we introduced the McVeggie in our restaurants during the test earlier this year, the response from guests was incredible. They appreciated having a veggie patty that delivered on both flavour and quality,” Ontario McDonald’s franchisee Kathy Damrell shared. “It’s so rewarding to see how excited our guests were to have new menu options for every taste, and I’m thrilled that McDonald’s Canada is now making it available across the country.”
